Digital communications agency Dog Digital picks up two coveted digital industry awards for their work with starcount.com. Starcount – the world’s first global digital entertainment chart – beat strong competition at the Dadi Awards to win Best Use of Social Media and the Chairman’s Award.
Last night, the directors of Dog Digital were jubilant as they collected the Best Use of Social Media Award at the 2012 Dadi Awards for their work with starcount.com. Starcount is the world’s first global digital entertainment chart and aggregates public information from the top 11 social networks around the world to chart thousands of personalities across all genres, including music, sport, film, fashion, and politics, as well discovering new trends and emerging acts in social entertainment.
Towards the end of the ceremony, the Starcount campaign was also awarded The Chairman’s Award. The Dadi Awards’ long-time chairman Phil Jones chose Starcount as his personal favourite campaign, noting Starcount’s innovative approach to the global social media scene.
In the last 18 months, the agency has seen social media marketing move to the heart of its business with major international clients including London 2012 Olympic Games, UEFA Europa League, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, and most recently Glasgow 2018 Youth Olympics Game bid.
The two Dadi Awards are added to a growing list of accolades and recognition for Dog’s social media work. The agency is also in the running to be named Best Social Media Agency at next week’s MiAwards. The UEFA Europa League 2011/12 campaign the agency managed is also up for Best Social Media Campaign.
Celebrating the win, Gerry McCusker, Managing Director, Dog Digital said: “We are immensely proud to be the holder of the Best Use of Social Media Award from the Dadi Awards. And being chosen by Phil Jones for the Chairman’s Award is tremendous. Starcount was a uniquely ambitious project and we believe that our client’s vision has been realised with starcount.com being the web’s authority on what’s hot in social media entertainment. The competition in this still emerging discipline is particularly stiff so having our work recognised in this way is very exciting for us.”
The development of Starcount was a complex technical task, with Dog working to integrate social feeds, plugins and APIs from networks from Facebook, to Orkut, to RenRen in China. Dog also initiated the social media campaign for Starcount, creating profiles on social networks around the world and producing and publishing the associated content.
Since the launch of the website only 6 months ago, the Starcount brand has had a huge international impact with global stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo and FC Barcelona Tweeting and Facebooking about the service to their millions of followers.
Dog continues to work with Starcount as new features and services are added to the website, and has also opened an office in Singapore, Starcount’s home country.
